Overview

What is SMS, voice & WhatsApp integration?

SMS, voice and WhatsApp integration is the work of connecting a Kenyan business’s website, app or system to text messages, phone calls and WhatsApp, so it can notify customers, answer calls and run campaigns on its own. Quickwave builds transactional and bulk SMS, IVR menus, browser calling, call tracking and WhatsApp notifications for businesses in Kenya, using Africa’s Talking and local SMS providers. The same integrations are built into our own products: Wave Call Center, Wave Billing and ZetuPay.

Who this is for

  • Support and sales teams that handle customer calls
  • Businesses sending payment receipts, reminders and alerts by SMS
  • Internet providers and subscription businesses reminding customers before expiry
  • Organisations running SMS or voice campaigns to customer lists
  • Multi-branch organisations that need calls routed to the right branch
  • Developers adding SMS, calls or click-to-call to an app or CRM

What you get

What we deliver

  • Transactional SMS

Receipts, renewal reminders, payment links and missed-call follow-ups sent automatically when something happens in your system, only within the hours you allow, with every message logged as sent or failed.

  • Bulk SMS and voice campaigns

SMS campaigns to contact lists imported from CSV, or voice campaigns that play a message, offer ‘press 1 for an agent’ or connect answered calls to an agent. Set calling hours, pacing, retries and a schedule.

  • IVR menus and call routing

Keypad menus on Africa’s Talking with business hours, voicemail and a hold queue that tells callers their place in line and offers a callback. Calls route by department, branch or language.

  • Browser calling and click-to-call

Agents take and make calls in Chrome or Edge with a headset through an Africa’s Talking WebRTC softphone, or have calls ring their own mobile. Your CRM can start calls through an API.

  • WhatsApp notifications

Send payment receipts, activation messages, expiry reminders and suspension notices by WhatsApp as well as SMS, with wording you approve. Wave Billing is built to send its payment receipts and expiry notices both ways.

  • Call tracking and reports

Every call is logged with its recording, IVR path, notes and outcome. Reports show answer rate, wait and handle times, peak hours and agent performance, and export to CSV.

Process

How we work

  1. Map the messages

We list every SMS, WhatsApp message and call your system should handle: what triggers it, who receives it, the wording and the hours it may go out.

  2. Set up providers

We connect your Africa’s Talking account, voice number and registered sender ID, or keep the SMS provider you already use. API keys and tokens are stored encrypted.

  3. Build and test

We build the integration, IVR flows and message templates, and test them with real calls and messages to Kenyan numbers. Local numbers typed as 07XX are converted to +254 format before sending.

  4. Go live and monitor

We switch to production, watch the delivery and call logs, and show your provider credit balance so you can top up before calls and messages stop.

FAQ

SMS & voice: common questions

How much does bulk SMS cost in Kenya?

You pay your SMS provider per message, and the rate depends on the provider and your volume. Published rates differ between providers and change over time, so we get current rates in writing for your volume before you choose. Our own products already integrate Africa’s Talking, Celcom Africa, TextSMS Kenya, JulySMS and BlessedText.

Do I need a registered sender ID to send SMS?

Yes, if you want messages to show your business name. You apply for it through your SMS provider, and we help with the request and then set the approved sender ID in your system.

Can you set up an IVR for our phone line?

Yes. We build IVR menus on Africa’s Talking voice with keypad options, business hours, voicemail and a hold queue, and route calls by department, branch or language. If you also need agents, tickets and reports, Wave Call Center, our cloud call center software, covers them in the browser.

Can our system send WhatsApp messages as well as SMS?

Yes. We add WhatsApp notifications next to SMS, using templates for receipts, reminders and account notices, and log every message as sent or failed. Wave Billing, our ISP billing system, is built to send payment receipts and expiry notices on both channels.

Can an SMS reminder collect an M-Pesa payment?

Yes. A reminder can carry a ZetuPay payment link and come with an M-Pesa prompt on the customer’s phone. ZetuPay sends each subscription renewal this way, by SMS and email, between 07:00 and 21:00 Nairobi time.

How much does an SMS or voice integration cost, and how long does it take?

We send a written, itemised quote with a timeline and milestones after a short discovery call. Call minutes and SMS are billed separately by your provider, such as Africa’s Talking, on your own account.
